Via Tender: Identify movies by barcode

I want to build an application to track my movie collection, which still is in its boxes and not in binary form on hard disks. As I am lazy I want to use a barcode scanner (mobile phone) to inventory everything (DVD + Bluray).
Therefore I'am asking you wheter this might be a feature request that is worth looking forward to or something that has no chance of being implemented any soon.
In my opinion this feature would enable many nice applications based on your database :-). Of course there is some work to do on the API and some kind of manual work to complement the barcodes in the movies. It probably isn't just as easy as it seems in the first place (as there are different boxes for the same movie etc). But in the end it would be a sufficient key to query a movie in the database.
Just let me know what you think about that, maybe you've already discussed and decided against it.
