Be able to include all movies on genre lists

I want to get the upcoming movies and filter it by genre type. What I did, I fetched all the upcoming movies and movie list by genre and compared its movie_id. What I discovered was the upcoming movies were not on the movie list by genre. Is there other way to filter the upcoming movies by genre?
