Via Tender: Are some duplicated persons the result of refresh delays?

Reported by Travis Bell | May 7th, 2012 @ 08:18 PM | in Minority Report (closed)

Assigned to Tender discussion #487. As reported in Tender:

Patty Ivins, one as Director, another as Producer of Marylin Monroe: The Final Days
but they are in fact the very same person.

I've been bumping against a few cases like this, where the same person is duplicated by the contributor, with sequencial or near-sequencial ID numbers. In the present case, 239880 and 239883.
This may be caused by not refreshing the contents of the page in which the contributor is working on.

If the contributor created 239880 as a Director, then goes on to input the Producer, and does not find Patty Ivins in the pop-down, he will create a new entry by declaring the same name again, thus creating the 239883 duplication.

This situation already happened to me, but I found it strange not seeing the name I had just created in the list, so I quit the page I was working on, then entered it again. This second time the pop down showed the name, so I carried on with my work and no duplication was created.

I hope that leaving this alert here may help other people avoiding these duplications.

The good one is http://www.themoviedb.org/person/239880-patty-ivins
The bad one, please delete, is http://www.themoviedb.org/person/239883-patty-ivins

I'll be working on 239880 and will fix the entries in the Marylin documentary.
(PS: I already fixed this in the movie's crew)
